Lux 5µm Cellulose-2 Chiral Column 150 x 4.6 mm
Lux™ Cellulose-2 incorporates an advanced halogenated derivative, cellulose tris(3-chloro-4-methylphenylcarbamate), leading to unique enantioselectivity compared to previously commercialized cellulose phases. It has been established that the introduction of either electron-donating or electron-withdrawing groups, such as chlorine, tends to improve the optical resolution abilities of CSPs with phenylcarbamate derivatives. In addition, substitution at the meta- or para- position on the phenyl moiety is considered more beneficial than at the ortho position to establish higher chiral recognition.
Important features
- Electronegative atoms, such as oxygen, nitrogen, and chlorine are responsible for hydrogen bonding.
- Phenyl rings contribute to p-p interactions.
- Cellulose backbones from linear chains, creating various grooves and cavities which provide steric and inclusion interactions.
- Chlorine atoms have strong electronegativity, contributing to dipole interactions.
